"Frowning on" is vicious homophobia, which you should easily grasp, Michael. Religions that tell us queer people that we need to change -- that we aren't perfect just the way we are-- are depraved religions. There is not one thing about us as humans that is frown-worthy. We don't NEED to change, and we REFUSE to change. Any Buddhist who frowns at me because I'm gay is gonna get told in no uncertain terms that their religion is as foul and despicable as they are.

I've been reading a lot about Buddhism/LGBTQ since you published this, and I've come to learn that many Buddhists are despicable homophobes. Certainly, the Dalai Lama and his followers are homophobic as hell. They're nasty and cruel. Since I've started reading about Buddhism (and interacting with a disgusting Buddhist homophobe commenting under this article) I've come to realize that queer people must be very cautious about Buddhism and Buddhists - because so much of the religion is so cruel toward us - presuming something is wrong with us.

I can't imagine associating with such bigoted jerks.
