From my position as a former HIV/AIDS street, The New York times has always been fairly elitist and conservative. They were definitely not our friends during the worst of the AIDS era. We had to work our asses off to get them to print true things. We had to protest like crazy when they spread falsehoods, especially in their op-ed pages.

Sadly, the New York Times has not changed its stripes.
