For the past several years, I've had a problem getting rid of dead leaves from my lawn, because the village where I live has a deadline for putting them out on the curb. But because of climate change (I guess), that date, which goes back for decades, no longer works. My maple trees don't even finish shedding their leaves until after the deadline.

So for the last couple years, I just haven't gotten rid of my leaves. I used to rake them, anyway, rather than blowing them and that's getting harder as I age, so that's part of my decision too.

But you know what? Last year, after spring winds finished blowing away my decaying leaves, my grass greened up beautifully and thrived perfectly, apparently well fertilized.

And civilization did not come to a screeching halt.
