For religious reasons I wasn't allowed to watch films until I was in my late teens, although I cheated a few times. So, gay-vibe movies from my youth are kind of not a thing in my memory.

But something a little bizarre does come to mind: the original Dukes of Hazzard TV series. (As problematic as I recognize it to be today. I'm not defending it as art, simply noting my childhood reaction to it.)

Beau and Luke were obviously not gay characters. But. To a 13-year-old gay kid, two smoking-hot young men out having exciting adventures with each other while ignoring the over-the-top sex appeal of Cousin Daisy — there's more than just a couple dry twigs in there to fuel a fantastigorical fire.

I sure did love that show.
