Fascinating, Kate Grant.

Have you read “Cutting for Stone,” by Ethiopian-born Indian-American medical doctor and author Abraham Verghese?

The novel is set in Ethiopia and the New York City, and among other themes, Verghese explores the tragic reality of fistulae among women in his birth country.

His is one of those luminous novels, by the way, so glowing with life that reaching the end feels like a mournful loss.
