Fascinating analysis of a scene it seems like almost nobody noticed! I think it's really cool that the Paris games officials included a very queer scene in the opening ceremonies. But it's more than merely cool. The scene showcases the beauty and pain of love, in a city celebrated for love, by featuring some of the literary luminaries of the French-speaking world — past and present, through an undeniably queer lens.
