Excellent article, Martie Sirois. I left Christianity ages ago, repulsed by many of the ideas and practices you point out. Decades later, encountering the historical critical method of examining the New Testament, I was astonished by what a radical Jesus seems to have been.

The real Jesus is one of the reasons I get along so well with so many progressive Christians, who I admire a great deal.

I posted an article today touching on anti-LGBTQ mob violence that Catholic bishops are inciting in Poland. It’s hard for me to understand how anyone can think that hating groups of people and egging on violence could have anything to do with Christianity.
