Excellent and informative, thanks. As a gay man I've always imagined that I could detect hints of the homoerotic in many of Caravaggio's paintings, but of course I can't know what he actually experienced.

His Card Sharp work romanticizes him a bit for me, seeming to reveal something about the rough world he inhabited, but none of the stories about his personal life seem especially unusual for the time he lived in.

His art entrances me, and I think part of the reason why is that look we get into his inner life.

I'm a fan of Rimbaud's poetry for similar reasons.
