Even though my late partner was Jewish, and even though most of our friends in Manhattan were Jewish and sometimes even Israeli, and even though I participated in countless hours of political discussion with them all, I still rarely comment publicly, even though I fervently wish the state of Israel would take more responsibility to solve the military violence problem in the region.
Since the situation is so complex, and since people are so passionate but often so uninformed, speaking up is often seriously pointless.
There’s no way you can effectively talk about Palestine with memes. There’s no way you can tweet about it effectively. As Jared Kushner learned, even really smart people who have spent years thinking about the problem are often unable to come up with workable solutions.
I certainly don’t know what any answers are, but I agree with you that people speaking without knowing what they are talking about add to the problem rather than help.
