Even the constant messaging of the CRT label seems to me to be bad journalism. The right seized on that label because it's form of "critical theory" with roots in Marxism. Anything with the least whiff of socialist ideology is guaranteed to engage and enrage the right, whether economic socialism is involved in the subject or not. The word alone is sufficient to arouse furious opposition.
Journalists and educators have not, in my opinion, done enough to make clear that anti-racist teaching and readings in primary and secondary schools have practically nothing to do with critical race theory.
Most anti-racism educators and speakers couldn't define critical race theory if they tried. I've seen them try and fail. I've watched them define CRT as a synonym for systemic racism in general, which is not accurate.
I agree with the general points of your article, and more specifically I propose that journalists and anti-racists become much more clear nobody has ever proposed teaching CRT to kids in primary and secondary schools. We really need to stop using the term.
