Even in the wake of the Nex Benedict murder, which I wrote about a few days ago, people are telling us queer folks not to show our anger, to accentuate the positive, to "understand" those who hate transgender and gay people so much that they fill public discourse with rhetoric so toxic that bullying and violence are all but inevitable.
Nex was only 16 when three older students ganged up on them in a public school restroom. Nex died the next day.
But don't be so angry, we're told.
I've been listening to that horseshit counsel since my Act Up days.
It's just as infuriating now as it was then.
