Dress codes based on sexist standards certainly exist. That's the problem. Fighting against them is good and proper. Sticking kids in uniforms like little soldiers isn't an answer to the problem. It's authoritarian. It's fascist. I'd certainly never send my kids to a school that required uniforms. I mean, I know a very few schools require uniforms, but they tend to be either Catholic schools (Yuck, for all the fascism implied by Catholic education and it's horrifying anti-LGBTQ and sexist focus) or elite schools for the very wealthy. (Which also, yuck.)
We should be fighting hard against sexist dress codes, not giving into fascist uniform requirements. Kids are people, not soldiers.
