Dr. Fauci has accomplished several careers worth of important work during his lifetime. The scientific work combined with the amazing political work he did during the height of the HIV crisis saved countless lives.
If he had retired before the coronavirus pandemic, he would almost certainly have still gone down as one of the most impactful public health figures in American history.
We should all be grateful he did not retire. I don’t know how much worse things could have been without him, but I suppose very much worse indeed.
