"Does Wolfe believe that children would be better off in a series of foster homes than adopted by a loving same-sex couple?"
This is the question leaders of Bethany Christian, one of North America's largest private adoption agencies, say they had to confront when considering their same-sex-couple policies. Bethany stunned the Evangelical Christian world a couple years ago when they reversed policies excluding LGBTQ adoptive parents.
While conservative Christians howled in protest, Bethany leaders explained that they were honoring Jesus's command to care for children. Bethany cited a huge backlog of children waiting to find parents. They cited data like you cited showing these children would have very good outcomes if adopted by same-sex couples. They cited data showing that children are better off adopted by a single person than living in a a series of foster homes, and that the sexual orientation of the adopting parent does not negatively impact outcomes.
How, they asked, when faced with children in need, could they refuse to meet that need? They said that as Christians, they could not refuse to help children.
They've taken a pretty big financial hit for that. Many of their conservative Christian donors have stopped giving, inspired by people like the Christian Post writer you cite, a man who is opining based on his own prejudices rather than actual evidence.
Bethany leaders, who are evangelical Christians, say they had no moral choice, in the face of the evidence, to act in the best interest of children.
Perhaps the Christian Post management should think about that before printing evidence-free nonsense like the article you're criticizing.
