Do did "heresy," with Christian leaders using the power of the Roman state to torture and kill people whose Christians beliefs were not exactly "right."

That's never ended. The history of Christianity is largely a history of bloody wars fought over forcing people to believe or at least pretend to believe particular things. Even though those things are often howlingly ignorant, superstitious, and stupid.

This is why I despise most forms of Christianity.

It's about thought control, it's about oppression, and it's about persecution.

That's even before we start talking about the abominable ways in which the Christian Church over the millennia has treated queer people like me.

What a despicable religion.
