Ditto! I was so excited about the announcement of the "true following" feed, and I commented to say as much. When I finished reading the announcement, I literally danced a little jig of joy, and if you want to laugh at something laugh at me dancing, cuz I suck. 😂

And then it turned out to be bullshit.

My true following feed is practically empty every morning. You're NEVER in it, Linda. Which is beyond weird. I clap for every story you write, as far as I know, which is the way Medium is hiding stories these days, I don't know how accurate that is. But I damn sure try!

I don't just read.

I clap.

I highlight.

I comment.

I share!

But Medium just WILL NOT put you in my supposed "true following" feed.

I can say the same for many other writers whose articles I try faithfully to read. It's like Medium does everything they can to stop me from reading the authors I want to read.

I'm sorry, but that's some serious bullshit.

It's bullshit that I open up my supposed true following feed every morning and find just a smattering of stories in it, often by people I don't follow and don't want to follow.

I don't have anything against these writers; I'm just not interested. If I were interested, I probably would have followed them, read their stories, clapped, highlighted etc.

I know that the programming task of simply putting the stories in my feed by everyone I follow order must be trivially simple. I mean, there are no decisions to make. If I follow, show me the story, every time, no exceptions. I bet a 15-year-old high school coder could do that.

Why can't Medium coders do it? Or if they can do it, why have Medium managers told them not to do it even as they're telling us they HAVE done it?

Something stinks here. I don't know what the problem is, but I've learned one thing. If a Medium manager tells you that something's going to happen, you could probably get good odds in Vegas that it's not going to happen.

I don't know why Medium managers want to be seen as unreliable and untrustworthy, but they sure are doing that.

I would really love some simple honesty and transparency. I don't think that's too much to ask.
