Dehumanization of LGBTQ people is going on constantly lately, even in places we wouldn't expect it.

In my latest article on Medium, I mention that very young teenagers recently gay-bashed a 72-year-old man in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan's gayest neighborhood, landing him in the hospital with a broken jaw.

I frame the article around a series of dehumanizing incidents/events I read in the news the same day I read about that gay bashing.

In just one incident, I linked to a video of a small child, apparently between 8 and 10 years old, picking up a microphone on the stage of an anti-transgender rally in Canada.

The child shouted, "The gays are psychopaths," followed up a few moments later by, "The gays are disgusting."

Clearly, this child has been hearing and internalizing dehumanizing messages to the point that he's repeating them. Will he grow up the change his mind?

The rally he was attending was one of 77 other rallies held within a few days of each other across Canada.

All of North America is consumed with this dehumanizing sentiment right now. It's really frightening.
