David and Lion’s Den — The game’s afoot!
Is David self absorbed? Maybe, I don’t know. I know he missed something right in front of his nose again. Now that he’s accepted that his best friend is a serial killer, he’s headed back to Cucina to find out why Jill said, “Howie needs you.” Raphael is acting very, very strange. Here we go!
Author’s Notes:
Howie once showed me the limestone “cave” carved out under Cucina. I shivered a little to see the 150 year old chisel marks in the stone. The old storage cages lining the walls struck me as weirdly ominous and out of place. I immediately thought of Poe’s “A Cask of Amontillado.” I didn’t even suspect I’d use that ominous feeling 20 years later as inspiration from the climax of a mystery novel.
