Dan Moore, I’ve been in very close touch with Medium support, working to get them as much data as possible. Engineers are frustrated and stressed trying to figure out what’s going on. A lot of progress got made on Friday, with the clapping issue being resolved for a lot of people, but not for everybody.
One thing that’s happening now is that publications with their own domain names seem to be disproportionately affected by the clapping-failure bug.
What makes all of this complicated is that there’s more than one problem with more than once cause.
Medium engineers are asking for data. They need reports of clapping failures with details to include the story link where the clapping didn’t work, the approximate time of the clapping failure, the type of device you were using when you tried to clap, and the software you were using. For example. Windows 10 running Internet Explorer, or the make and model of your cellphone, and whether you were using the the iOS or Android app, or the mobile web browser version.
The more details people can provide, the more they’re going to have to go onto get this figured out.
I’ve been helping by funneling some info to them given that they were kind enough to give me some contact info I could use to get directly in touch with people working on finding a fix.
So, people can either contact support by emailing email@example.com or if they want, message or email me with details that I’ll pass on.
