Dad and I had the custom for several years of bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee every January. It always amused us to find that the locals believed that they were in the middle of winter, when we were actually escaping it.

But I know what you mean about the days being capricious. I remember a week when we roasted our asses off one day out on the lake and froze them off the next.

We just never knew what to expect!
