Criticizing Christians for persecuting LGBTQ people is not the same as hating Christians for being Christians.

Nothing in my article says anything about disliking a Christian identity. In fact, I wrote about loving LGBTQ-affirming Christian organizations and people. I even affirmed Jesus’s teachings and Christian belief systems.

What I hate is what Christians do to queer people. When Christians quote sacred texts calling for our deaths, when they fire us because of our sexual orientation or gender identity, when they leverage politics to make a second-class citizens, they are behaving in an evil, morally revolting manner.

They must be called on their repugnant behavior. And it goes without saying that at least here in the United States as far as LGBTQ people are concerned, Christians really are “the worst" with respect to persecuting us for being who we are. No other powerful group in the United States even tries.

Hence the superlative classification.
