Cops do what they want. They're disproportionately politically conservative, disproportionately authoritarian, and as we all know disproportionately racist. Your analogy of an abusive relationship is perfect.

Did you see my story on Saturday calling on the FBI to take over from local cops because they won't protect us LGBTQ people from Proud Boys groups? I included video in the article, for just one of the four incidents I wrote about, where you can watch the cops stand back and away from the door of a gay bar that obscenities-screaming Proud Boys were trying to force their way into.

The people inside the bar had to protect themselves with pepper spray, because the cops weren't doing their jobs.

But this is no surprise to members of minorities. We know how conservative the cops are, and we know deeply and personally how we cannot trust them to help us.

But hey, let a Black man get involved in a traffic stop and we can sure trust the cops to kill him in a hail of bullets, right?

Abusive relationship? You nailed it
