Conservative Christians really are taking over in many cases on the local level. I was shocked yesterday to read an article from Tallahassee, Florida about a magnet school principal being fired for allowing 6th graders (11 and 12 year olds) to view "controversial" art.

In fact, some Christian parents had called the art literal pornography and demanded action. I went digging and saw the parents describing themselves as Christians and people who wish to restore Christian values to the nation.

They took the fight to local political authorities, and they won.

Guess what work of controversial art those parents call porn?

Wait for it.

Michaelangelo's David sculpture.

Yes, conservative Christians in Florida's panhandle are congratulating themselves for winning a battle against pornography by getting an educator fired over one of the most beloved works of art in the world.

I watched a few people explain to these folks that the David sculpture is Christian art commissioned by the Catholic Church, and certainly not porn, but that went right over their heads.

Onward Christian soldiers. Yeehaw. 😐
