Coincidentally, I wrote yesterday about not trusting people, about how I resolved at 12 years old —after a homophobic bullying incident— to be less trusting.

I'm sure I've never completely gotten over a habit of mistrust. It's self defense after all! But as you write, scissors are sharp, and some habits need to be unlearned.
