Coincidentally, I just finished reading an article in The Guardian about how Ivermectin poisoning cases are surging in Oklahoma, taking critically needed emergency room space and hospital beds from people sick with covid-19, which is also surging. Some serious covid-19 cases have had to be sent out of state because there isn’t enough hospital capacity.
Given that practically all cases of covid-19 that require hospitalization are among unvaccinated people, I’m forced to ask why anyone would not take a vaccine, especially given how overwhelmingly safe and effective they have proven to be.
And if they won’t, why on Earth would they take a drug that has proven not to be effective and is poisoning people and landing them in hospitals?
Is this some kind of mass hysteria?
I know how powerful conspiracy theories are. My former business partner’s brother, who is actually a really cool guy, sincerely believes the Earth is flat. Nothing, no amount of facts or reasoning will shake him from that belief. And I mean nothing.
His believing the Earth is flat, of course, doesn’t hurt anybody. Doesn’t even hurt him, since he still uses GPS and other technology that works because the Earth is a spheroid.
But when people trust in conspiracy theories that are likely to cause them to die … that is something I can’t wrap my mind around.
