Catholic hospital policy is set by bishops, not by doctors, not by data-driven public health experts. We as a nation should never let priests decide what kind of medical care people receive, and who receives it.

I've written articles about abysmal Catholic healthcare in the past, and I've noted that nearly one out of five hospital beds in the United States is in a Catholic-controlled institution.

This must end. Either the Church stops administering hospitals based on their religious dogma (i.e. superstitious horseshit), or they must leave health care.

Every American, every human, deserves the best data-driven medicine available. Doctors and nurses must make health care decisions, and priests must never have a say.

Of course, I say that as a gay man, a human being the church describes as literally disordered and depraved. So I'm already well primed to understand exactly how evil and disgusting the Catholic Church is.
