Carlson is part of a right-wing, anti-trans pile on that the Republican Party has apparently decided is an important part of their strategy to gain and keep power.

Trans teens are under withering attack in Republican states right now, with supportive teachers, parents, and community leaders taking fire constantly.

LGBTQ families are fleeing red states like Florida, Texas, Idaho, and Arkansas in large and increasing numbers, fleeing hatred fed by this false narrative that Carlson is feeding to his viewers. He and other thought leaders like Matt Walsh and Marjorie Taylor Green are playing an intentional, dangerous game with the lives of vulnerable people who harm no one.

I participated in a broadcast panel discussion last night with trans leader Brynn Tannehill to talk about the intense human suffering caused by the falsehoods and hatred Carlson and company are spreading.

The long and short of it is, it's working for them.

They don't care about the human consequences, they're only interested in advancing their political interests, truth be damned.

Thank you for writing about this, because there's a distressing lack of cis/straight people paying attention to what has become a genuine crisis for LGBTQ people in red states.

My latest story on Medium and in the Los Angeles Blade is a gut-wrenching interview with a family who fled Florida and are now living in a homeless shelter in New York State.

This is the tragic reality I wish more people knew about.
