Candace Owens reminds me of so many people who own and enjoy personal privilege outside of mainstream reality. Rather than asking themselves why equality is an illusion, they imagine that their own comfortable lives have something to do with personal virtue. So they preach.

I see this phenomenon most often in the area of LGBTQ equality, because that tends to be the focus of my research and writing. But I’m supposing it migbt be a pretty widely shared sort of characteristic in groups of people who are struggling to be free and equal.
