But you know, there's quite a bit of Christian opposition to the whole furry culture, often tied inaccurately to LGBTQ culture.

Earlier this year, a crazy urban myth flew around right-wing Christian circles that public schools were making litter boxes available in gender-neutral bathrooms for trans students and furries. (Conflated in their minds, apparently.)

Details of the rumor vary, but that's the one that I heard in Michigan when the chairperson of the Republican Party here posted it to her Facebook page, urging parents to fight back against a specific school district making litter boxes available.

Of course, there was no truth to it. The school district superintendent eventually released a statement saying that, adding that he was shocked he had to release a statement about something so ridiculous. His criticism of the Republican chairperson was implicit but obvious.

She never did remove the post from her Facebook page.

I've subsequently seen reporting of the same silly rumor from western states like Utah and Idaho.
