But religious belief clearly is a choice, empirically speaking. Because we can witness people choosing to believe different things. That happens all the time. It's an observable and widely observed fact. And knowing facts is how you know things, as I refer to in my initial comment. You can't argue with facts.

That's how I know that belief in religion is a choice, because it's a fact that I can witness for myself and therefore know to be true.

I dispute your notion that anyone could choose their sexual orientation. I believe that good empirical evidence shows that that is not true ... shows that it's not a fact.

And facts matter.

That's why I know that religion is not an identity on par with other immutable human characteristics. Religious belief is a choice.
