Close to half the people who voted chose to support Trump. By extension, we know that many more people would have chosen to support Trump if they had voted.
While you’re perfectly correct to point out that half of the country did not vote for Trump, it’s still critical for everyone to understand that enormous portions of the country support him, in numbers that would approach half if everyone in the country could be surveyed.
We try to dismiss this at our peril.
