What’s wrong with portraying Peter Parker as bisexual? You seem to be saying that it’s because he never has been before.

That doesn’t strike me as a very sound argument.

You present a binary of either portraying existing characters with diversity or creating diverse new characters. I don’t see any reason why that has to be the case. Studios can, and probably will, do both.

Indeed, testing the waters with an existing characters could be helpful if it encourages studios by showing them the financial viability of queer inclusion.
