Being old enough to have personally witnessed the downturn Farooqui is writing about, seeing the effects in my own extended working class family, I certainly hope he’s right.

When Reagan first popularized trickle down to the masses in response to a cyclical economic downturn, I remember thinking that things were not going to end well.

I had no clue how bad things were going to get.

And it’s not just the United States, of course; the UK has all but impoverished its own working class. We got Trumpism, they got Brexit, neither of which phenomenon can do anything to lift up working-class standards of living.
