Being a Midwest and Eastern boy, communing with nature for me has usually been more about forest and marsh and lake.

While I’ve visited California and Nevada, I’ve never had the kind of desert that arid experiences that you write about.

I feel the loss as something that needs to be filled, even though I live surrounded by natural beauty of a different sort.
