Beautifully written, Remy. My own youth, much of it spent in churches in the deep South, has imprinted my neural circuits with trauma. I try with occasional success to ignore it and with occasional success to practice a former therapist's advice not to ignore it.
Successful or otherwise, I write. A lot. I've told much of my own story over the years in essays and lightly amended fiction, but lately I've been feeling tapped out and focusing more on telling other people's stories.
I don't know if that will change or not, but I very much look forward to reading your stories.
