As you point out, “Team TERF" is headquartered in the UK, where violence against trans people is surging. Two trans writers for Prism & Pen, as a matter of fact, have been assaulted in the street seriously in the last few weeks, one of them more than once.

The “gender critical” broadside against trans people in the UK may be led by academics, but it’s been picked up by the popular press, and ordinary people are using it to hate on vulnerable innocent people, and to commit violence against them.

That’s Team TERF, that’s what JK Rowling helped popularize, and it’s getting worse not better as it makes its way across the Atlantic toward the United States and Canada.

Yet people are defending Chappelle by saying he’s correct to observe that attacks against Rowling are misogynistic. They are no such thing. People calling out Rowling for stirring up hatred against vulnerable trans people are fighting the patriarchy, fighting the idea that sex assigned at birth must define gender no matter what.

That toxic ideology is doing tremendous harm to vulnerable people who just want to be left alone.

I get that a lot of people aren’t familiar with this. But I wish they would familiarize themselves, because really good people are getting really hurt, really badly.
