As uncomfortable as it is to publish this, M. J. Murphy, I’ve been slowly putting a collection of stories together as memoir. It wouldn’t do to gloss over the ugly parts. I’m sure the picture I’ve painted so far is already overly rosey. I suppose that’s inevitable.

People make mistakes. Good people do hurtful things sometimes. I wouldn’t want Fred Shirley or Gloria Bates or anyone else who regularly reads my memoir to get the wrong idea.

We all have feet of clay.

What’s important is we do our best, and when we screw up as we are sure to do, to keep going.
