As the queer son of a Baptist preacher, I sure can relate. I was supposed to go to Bible college, except that before I turned 17, I realized I didn't believe anymore. I began a crash reading course even before that realization struck me, and storytelling has always meant so much to me. I've read many of the books on your list, and I keep reading all the time. I think I can safely say that reading is the only thing that kept me healthy through the family and community rejection that is sadly too common in the Evangelical world, and was even more common when I was young.

I'm so glad you found your way to Prism & Pen, because we exist to tell stories, to amplify diverse voices from all over the queer world.

We are trans, lesbian, non-binary, gay, asexual, and so much more. I'm a grumpy atheist, but my co-editor Esther is a faithful Christian who found her own path to affirmation.

We are Hindus, Muslims, pagans, Mormons, atheists, Wiccans and Christians. What we all have in common is a dedication to telling our own queer stories.
