As I mentioned to somebody the other day, just to make this hypocrisy extra special, Boebert's date that night was a Democrat who runs a business that offers drag shows as entertainment.

To hear Boebert tell it, drag is an existential threat to the universe. It's curdling milk around the globe. It's killing puppies and kittens. It's wilting flowers and ruining lives.

Hm.

But she dates (and publicly fondles) a guy who makes part of his living from drag? That's how much she actually cares?

I don't know anything about her date other than his reputation, but I bet he knows she isn't as personally homophobic as her public persona would indicate.

I bet he knows she's posturing, playing the demagogue in return for power and influence.

What can be done about that? How do you counter something like that? Boebert isn't stupid, as her opponents like the characterize her. She's politically shrewd and canny. She knows what to sell to the hardcore base of her party that voted her in.

I'm sure she's as confident as you are that the base won't care about her hypocrisy.

I'm sure she knows that strong personal attacks against her will actually coalesce her support in the base.

It's a real quandary!
