As I commented to someone else the other day, it’s ironic that Fortune 500 companies right now are actually more democratic than the US Senate with its Republican-minority stranglehold.

These companies aren’t taking social positions based on idealism. They are relentlessly aware of what what the bulk of the American people actually support. If Coke takes a position on something, one thing everyone can be sure of is that they’ve carefully looked at their bottom line.

Perhaps the leaders of the Republican Party should think about this.
