As an LGBTQ person who's terminology just got mocked and whose transgender friends just got abysmally slandered by a deeply disrespectful person who apparently doesn't give a shit about us, let me just say that I don't really give a damn about the overarching point of the article.

If y'all cis/straight people want to leave us behind, don't expect our support. It's just like Black people telling the Democratic party not to take their votes for granted.

I'm saying the same thing. I'm a progressive because I value diversity. I'm a progressive because I deeply desire for all marginalized people to be treated fairly, equitably and with decency.

The author of the article advocated for nothing like that. They repeated foul, toxic transphobic bullshit instead. If you don't understand how deeply awful that is, then you're not understanding the overarching point of my comment. I suggest you read it again until some clarity starts to dawn.
