As an ex-evangelical myself, I really appreciate your point of view.

This condemnation of trans people is extra-biblical in any case. Evangelicals can only take the hardcore positions they take by twisting texts that aren’t about transgender people in the first place.

Examining the indisputable existence of actual trans people ought to move evangelicals to positions of empathy and love.

Gender dysphoria is debilitating, after all, and trans youth who aren’t accepted and affirmed suffer from elevated rates of serious mental health problems, including high risk of suicide.

Trans people who can live openly with acceptance from friends and family are seen to enjoy good mental health.

That also means something. It’s real.

Great article!
