As a regular customer of Tractor Supply, this story really touched me. I imagined it happening at my own store location in northern Michigan, where I buy my bird feeding supplies.
I’ve never seen a homeless person there where I shop, but I wonder how I would have reacted in a similar circumstance. Would I, as I purchased supplies for hungry birds who are actually quite capable of taking care of themselves, have gone out of my way to help a hungry human?
I’d like to say yes, but having lived in big cities, I’ve practiced the sometimes necessary art of not seeing the suffering around me.
And helping starts with seeing.
