As a Michigander, I'm both angered by reports that I'm seeing of Republican shenanigans, and hopeful because I know how desperate the Republican Party in Michigan feels these days.

A coalition of prominent Republican and Democratic Michigan leaders, including one of our former Republican governors, just formed to fight for the reelection of our current Democratic governor.

Courts have just ruled that the pro-abortion amendment to our Constitution must appear on the November ballot, and public support for it looks to be overwhelming.

Public opposition to the Republican candidate for governor looks pretty entrenched as well, especially since Democrats are saturating ad spaces with the message that she opposes abortion even in the case of rape or incest, and even when the health of the mother is at risk.

Right now we Michigan Democrats have a unique opportunity to contribute to a Blue Wave in national politics.

Michigan Democrats and even some Michigan Republicans are stepping up. It's encouraging and scary at the same time. Nobody wants hopes dashed, but fingers are crossed and breaths are being held right now all across the state.
