As a matter of fact fact, the very first thing I read after I woke up this morning was a news story about three administrators being fired from a school district near the Jersey shore. The gay district superintendent was fired, a lesbian senior administrator was fired, and an administrator who is cis/straight ally to the queer community was also fired.
Pretty much explicitly over their identities or their support for queer people.
One board member stated that the board needed to take action to make sure the school district did not become "too gay."
The details are extremely disturbing, including that board members discussed among themselves their disgust over sex acts they imagined the superintendent performed — and that they discussed in an open meeting the false notion that trans people are dangerous predators.
I would have expected something like that to happen in the 1970s, not 2023 when it actually went down:
