As a gay man who was not diagnosed with autism until I was in my late forties, I identify with much of this. I’ve written quite a bit over the years about struggling with masculinity, and I’m pretty sure that a lot of my struggle had to do with not intuitively understanding gender.

I had to learn and model behavior, and it did not come easy for me.
