As a former Iowan, I must say that the caucus system does seem to have some advantage. Neighbors get together in what are usually fairly small groups and discuss among themselves who the best nominee for the party would be.

People entering the doors with certain ideas about who they are going to support often change their minds. Lots of education and thinking goes on.

I don’t think the problem so much is the Iowa caucus system ad it is the media expectation for what should happen.

The only people who really lost Monday night were the big television news organizations that expected to make huge amounts of money as people tuned in to breathlessly keep up with the results minute by minute.

But that’s not how the Iowa caucus system was ever designed to work. Perhaps it’s antiquated, but to me it seems a pretty good way for Democrats to decide who their delegates are going to be.
