As a former infantryman in the Marine Corps Reserves and later an active duty Air Force officer, I particularly resent this kind of jingoistic messaging. Like nobody who ever served in the military could ever be anything but a hero?

Puleeze, Mary Louise.

You know, why don't we ask Republican leadership how they feel about Democrats who have served with distinction in the military?

Oh wait!

They routinely savage Pete Buttigieg, who served with distinction in combat zones, and who went to the great trouble of actually learning to speak and read Farsi, a feat I wish a few Republican leaders would attempt.

Idolizing somebody for the mere fact that they served in the military is something that's reserved for Republican politicians, apparently.

And just as apparently, committing felonies to overturn Democracy is just peachy as long as it keeps the current Republican clown show in power.
