Apathy and complacency are very hard to overcome, Claire. I know plenty of gay men who couldn’t care less about what’s happening to gay men and other queer people in Russia.

One of the most important principles Jesus ever taught was the importance of loving one’s neighbor as oneself and of being one’s brother’s keeper.

That message is as radical today as it was 2,000 years ago.

Most people only care about things that directly touch them or their families. It’s really sad.
