Anheuser-Busch was trying to sell cheap, bad tasting beer to young people who generally don't like their poor quality product. Budweiser has been trying to establish inroads into queer communities for decades, despite the fact that their beer is terrible.
I'll never forget a few years ago when the official Detroit Pride fest wouldn't allow any beer other than Budweiser products to be sold.
People were disgusted. We don't want this tasteless shit, they said. Sell us some real beer! Let excellent Michigan brewers sell their beer here!
Anheuser-Busch has has always been hypocritical about their marketing to queer communities. The Stonewall Inn, where Pride got it start, stopped selling all Anheuser-Busch products 2 years ago because of how hypocritical the company is regarding queer issues and people. The company donates massively to politicians who are out to hurt us as badly as they possibly can. Anheuser-Busch sponsors events run by the most disgustingly homophobic and transphobic groups and/or nations.
Ever since Budweiser started trying to sell beer to us while supporting our worst enemies, I have hated Budweiser. I despise them with a fierce passion because of their hypocrisy and their bald-faced efforts to make money from us despite funding our enemies.
I do everything I can to convince people not to drink any Anheuser-Busch product.
Their campaigns trying to sell their swill to us are the worst sort of pink washing.
I for one am cheering the demise of their Budweiser brand. I could not possibly be more delighted that their hypocritical promotion attempt backfired on them.
